Benbecula Showcase 2004
24th October 2004
The Arches, Glasgow
Reverbaphon
Christ.
Prhizzm
Genaro
and special guest
Robin Guthrie
performing "Lumiere"
Promotional text
Robin Guthrie
"Founding member of Cocteau Twins will be special guest at our showcase
event. Robin travels from his home in France to perform his music-to-film
montage, Lumiére, for the first time in Scotland. The Cocteau Twin's
influence on independent music during the 80s and 90s is arguably the most
important, very quickly reaching cult status and worldwide respect, via the
classic 4AD label. After the demise of the band Robin went on to form his
own label with fellow Twin, Simon Raymonde, named Bella Union, and records
and tours with his own band, Violet Indiana. His Lumiére project however, is
something quite special. The film was produced by Robin and he plays a
specially written piece to accompany it, which has never been issued as a
recorded release. Hear it played live - this is possibly the only chance you
will ever get!!!"
Reverbaphon
"makes a welcome return to play live and debut his forthcoming album on
Benbecula "Our Heart Beats with Joy (The Curved World Outside)", due out in
November. Promo copies have already received good rotation from radio
worldwide - watch out for some major press quotes soon.Reverbaphon's past
live appearances include performing alongside VVM, Scanner and support slots
with Fourtet earlier this year." |

Christ.
"Benbecula's best selling artist Christ. is no stranger to the live circuit,
having recently played Finland, France and of course supported Schneider TM
on the British leg of his recent European tour, and later went on to record
a live session for the Radio 1 John Peel show (Peel requested and received
an encore!). With his forthcoming EP now complete, his live show will
feature brand new tracks against a specially commissioned graphic backdrop."
Prhizzm
"complements the line up by flying direct from Toronto to promote his
forthcoming Benbecula EP, due out this Christmas. In autumn of 2004, we will
see the release of the National Film Board of Canada Remix compilation,
"-40", to be released on CD/DVD through c0c0s0l1dc1t1 records. Prhizzm has
contributed an original soundtrack to the archive footage, alongside other
Canadian artists such as Venetian Snares and Akufen. His debut EP for
Benbecula has to be heard to be believed so his first live date in Europe
should prove to be a belter! Do not miss it."
Live Recording
The Benbecula artists were recorded and later broadcast by Radio Magnetic.
