"Minerals Series" In 2005 Benbecula Records launched a series of releases embodying music that the label felt was forward thinking, honest and special. Too often we receive demos or hear music from other sources that really gets our pulse racing, but due to resources and release schedules, we have to let so many go. Other times, an established artist has a body of work that would otherwise never see the light of day. The Minerals Series are releases that offer a fast track from the recording studio straight to the listening public, often within a matter of weeks. Predominantly with their own home made artwork, these are special physical products that offer Benbecula fans and the general public alike something different to hold and listen to. The Minerals Series kicked off in a big way with the Minerals Series Box Set, the first 13 in the series, released simultaneously, housed in there own box, artwork and strictly limited to 100 copies. Due to the warm reception, the Minerals Series continued from January 2006 onwards, with approximately one release every month. Often copied but never equalled, the Minerals Series has become a living legend. A mixture of brand new works, sessions, out-takes, outstanding demos, local artists, new artists, label stalwarts and above all, the spirit of independent music making.
