"ANOTHER unsigned Scottish band that stops you in your tracks. Genaro are signed to the Benbecula Records label and release their debut album early next year. The three tracks they've sent are so good you have to scratch your head that a major hasn't snapped them up. Garp 52, with its descending plucked guitar and rollicking beat, is like a well played The Bees track. A dreamy lilting tune which, in only 2.04 minutes, lifts you from dreary October to sun-filled July"
"... It's a sound which swirls and shifts before building slowly into crystalline crescendos (cripes!), which wash over you to such an extent that it's easy to overlook the fact that it's all effectively underpinned by intelligent song structures and rather good ear for chiming melody."
"... There is a fine line in the risky profession of innovative guitar music between brilliance and wanksmithery and Benbecula signings Genaro appear to tread this with glee. Still, the majority of their debut sits on the right side of the divide, glowing with a warmth that often eludes their more calculated contemparies."
"With an undeniable ear for an excellent tune, great lyrics and an assured air of confidence, Genaro produce one great song after another. Songs such as “Anyone Home”, “Garp 52”, “Suspicions”, “Walk into the Sun” and “The Feeling’s Gone” are way up there with anything the current clutch of indie darlings has produced and Genaro deserve wider recognition for it."
"Genaro’s eponymous debut is destined to establish the Carluke quartet as the cream not only of the lysergic Scottish post-rock crop, but of all guitar-based UK music ..."
“... The album is clever, it is deep, and it is different. Genaro may have some sounds that are similar to other rock groups, but they have used these sounds so well that they have created something completely new; something indistinguishable but unmistakable.”
