‘When? Softly…’ is the latest collaboration between artist/composer Christopher P. Wood and bass player John Layton. This second album for Benbecula following quickly on the heel’s of ‘Sfumato’ released earlier in the year continues to develop the sound landscapes that have defined the duo’s output for several years.

The core of each track remains harmonic with each loop comprising of carefully selected chords that create the sound world in which bass and guitar fuse together against a background of subtle electronics, acoustic instruments and experimental tunings. Recorded in real time without software intervention ‘When? Softly.’ Comprises of nine distinctly different tracks in one organic whole and continues extend the signature sound world of Layton & Wood.
